Indonesia’s Krakatoa volcano erupted twice on Good Friday evening, launching lava and debris over nine miles into the air.
It’s still occurring this morning. The explosions were powerful enough to be heard as far as the capital Jakarta, which is located more than 90 miles away.
There hasn’t been any report of human casualties this time around, but the volcano’s gigantic eruption in 1883 killed over 35,000 people.
