A Dublin City Council official suggested this week to increase clamping fees from €80 to €130.
This did not sit well with Dublin Lord Mayor Christy Burke, however, who said he does not want to see clamping fines go any higher.
The current fee has stood since 1998.
Mayor Burke insisted that any increase would only be to the benefit of the operating company.
He stated that “It’s 7-point-odd-million to run the company, and there’s 4.2 or 4.3 million coming back in, so it would appear to me that the requested increase is certainly to boost the profits.”
