The acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said that Ireland is on track to reopen schools in September.
Speaking at the NPHET briefing on Thursday, Dr Glymn said that we could reopen schools as long as we continue to surpress the virus.
Dr Glynn who also revealed that the R number has reduced in the past week called on the public to abide by Government guidelines in order for essential services to reopen.
He added that the next five weeks and beyond are also crucial in order to protect the most vulnerable in our society.
