The city of Venice is set to introduce an ‘entry fee’, as the city struggles to shake off chronic ‘overtourism’.
Venice’s quaint streets remain almost devoid of tourism right now, due to Covid-19, but city officials are certain that people will return in their thousands once the pandemic is over.
In a bid to combat so-called ‘overtourism’, daytrippers will be charged up to €1o to visit the city on the busiest days.
People with overnight reservations will not have to pay the fee.
