Fresh dig begins for remains of Fiona Pender

A woman is in protective care abroad has been interviewed by gardi in connection with the disappearance of Co Offaly hairdresser Fiona Pender who went missing 18 years ago.

Pender, was last seen at her apartment on the morning of August 23rd, 1996,Church Street, Tullamore.

Gardai believe that Ms Pender was murdered and have decided to reopen the investigation.

Gardai are beginning to dig at a new site in the midlands for the remains of Pender. She was seven months pregnant at the time she went missing.

New information was received from a new witness. It is believed that a man in his 40s,who is currently on bail, made threats against the woman and is facing criminal charges.

A new site of interest has been pinpointed in the search for Ms Pender’s remains due to this new information.
