There was some tragic news announced earlier today when it was confirmed that a 10-year-old boy who had been waiting on a life-saving heart transplant sadly passed away.
The young boy named Gavin Coyne, from Donaghmede, North Dublin, sadly lost his battle for life when he passed away in hospital in the UK were he had been since last November.
Young Gavin was tragically diagnosed with a rare heart condition known as severe dilated cardiomyopathy with heart failure.
Gavin and his family were forced to travel to the Freeman hospital in Newcastle, after doctors informed them that they were unable to treat his condition here.
Since his admission to hospital Gavin underwent a number of procedures whilst he was waiting on a much needed heart transplant, but sadly passed away last night.
The news of Gavin’s tragic passing was confirmed earlier today by his cousin Amy Coyne, who had set up a GoFundMe page to help the family whilst they were staying in Newcastle.
Amy wrote: “Gavin lost his battle yesterday and gained his angel’s wings,”
“RIP to such a beautiful brave boy.”
All of our thoughts and prayers are with Gavin’s family and friends during this difficult time.
