Winter is almost upon us, as a mass of freezing air is about to take hold over Ireland, bringing frosty nights, hail, and possibly sleet showers across the country.
The weather will remain relatively calm and mild for the next 48 hours, with temperatures reaching 12-13C.
It’s all set to change from Thursday onwards though, as daytime temperatures are expected to plummet down to single figures, and reach below zero during the night.
The coming weekend is expected to be rather cold, with showers of freezing rain and even sleet possible.
