Pop music duo Jedward are enjoying a momentary return to the limelight as the political establishment and certain twitter users heap praise on them for attacking Irish citizens who exercised what they claimed was their right to protest last Saturday against the Orwellian lockdown measures at the Customs House.
The brothers account tweeted “Dear Dublin Anti Mask Protest! Get the f***k inside you selfish low lives sincerely the rest of the country.”
The irony of the brothers attacking these concerned citizens appears to be lost on them despite the fact that both performers attended a Black Lives Matter protest during the summer in height of the pandemic.
While the two were accused of hypocrisy by social media users some such as Dublin City Lord Mayor Hazel Chu heaped praise on them, tweeting that they were on the “’pop in for a cuppa’ invite list when Mansion House opens back up”.
Many people on social media believe that only certain protests, such as Saturday’s, which was in relation to concerned citizens demanding less government infringement on their basic human rights upset the political establishment while BLM protests over the death of criminal George Floyd enjoy praise.
