BREAKING: London-bound Air India flight crashes in Ahmedabad, 244 On Board – rescue mission underway




Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff at 1:38 PM IST, carrying 232 passengers and 12 crew. The plane, registered as VT-ANB, plummeted into Meghaninagar near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport, bursting into flames.

The flight issued a mayday call moments after reaching 625 feet, per the DGCA. Flightradar24 data shows the last signal at 08:08:51 UTC. Passengers included 169 Indians, 53 Britons, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian, with former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani among them.

Emergency teams are at the scene, with a green corridor set up to rush survivors to hospitals. Rescue efforts continue as authorities investigate the cause. More details to follow.
