Delta variant cases have reportedly jumped by a massive 46% in the UK in the space of a week.
Health authorities reported that no fewer than 50,824 new infections involving the strain were confirmed in 7 days.
The Delta variant is far more transmissible than other strains, and the efficacy of current vaccines against it remains unclear.
