The Irish Government is considering issuing vouchers to entice ‘staycations’ this summer.
The vouchers (€200 for every adult and €100 for every child) would be usable in hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality establishments across the country.
While this might seem like a good idea on paper, many fear that hotels, B&Bs, etc. might hugely inflate their prices over the summer months to try and recoup some of the losses incurred during lockdown, which would negate the effectiveness of any voucher program.
