A woman who killed her children while she was suffering from psychosis and depression has begun a High Court action for medical negligence.

According to RTE, Deirdre Morley is taking an action against the HSE, St. Patrick’s Hospital in Dublin and a consultant psychiatrist.

In 2021 Ms. Morley was found not guilty by reason of insanity of murdering her three children.  9-year-old Conor, 7-year-old Darragh and 3-year-old Carla died at their home on 24th January 2020.

After the trial Ms. Morley was diagnosed with a severe psychotic depressive illness.  She received medication in hospital after it was said in the trial that she had hidden her illness and symptoms from her loved ones.

Mr. McGinley has lodged a separate action against the three parties in Ms. Morley’s claim and he has also called for a full investigation into the treatment given to his wife and for families to be involved in a family member’s treatment path.
