Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says he hopes there will be reassuring data over AstraZeneca vaccine this week




The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said he hopes that there will be reassuring data in regards to the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine later this week.

Speaking to RTE, Dr Glynn said that the decision to suspend the vaccine was taken with an abundance of caution and he hopes that we will be accused of being over cautious next week.

Glynn said that there has been no major clotting incidents similar to those that occurred in Norway reported in Ireland.

Meanwhile the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has echoed Dr Dr Glynn’s thoughts by saying that the decision to suspend the vaccine was a precautionary measure.
