Ógra Fianna Fáil calls for Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and other “senior members of government” to stand aside until completion of Garda Investigation

According to their official Facebook page, Ógra Fianna Fáil have called for Tánaiste Leo Varadkar to stand aside until completion of Garda Investigation. Leo Varadkar is leader of Fine Gael and his party is part of the Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Green Party power sharing government currently ruling Ireland.

Leo Varadkar is under criminal investigation for the alleged leaking of Irish Government secrets whilst he was Taoiseach of the previous Irish government.

The Ógra Fianna Fáil statement outlines:

“Ógra Fianna Fáil President Tom Cahill has written to the Government Chief Whip, Minister Jack Chambers, outlining Ógra’s call for Tánaiste Leo Varadkar to stand aside temporarily until a garda investigation into his leaking of a confidential pay agreement is concluded.
This follows news last night that the Garda probe into the Tánaiste has been upgraded to a full investigation.
In the letter, Mr Cahill says that it is appropriate that senior members of government who are the subject of a garda investigation would temporarily stand aside pending the outcome of that investigation.”
