The much hated state utility Irish Water has found itself in more trouble today after latest figures show that a staggering 8,000 customers have already cancelled their direct debit payments with the company.
The company which will not see any revenue for at least nine months after the suspension of charges, revealed that there was a massive 21% fall in revenue from bills for the final three months of 2015.
Meanwhile Irish Water’s parent company, Ervia, revealed that only 64% of its customers willingly paid their charges at the end of its fourth billing cycle, which covered the last three months of 2015.
Ervia, also say 975,000 customers did pay “all or part of their bills” by the end of March.
Although the long protracted political debate over the much hated water charges caused a significant shortfall in direct debit payments in the first three months of this year.
