Dublin is the centre of a massive new outbreak of a virulent strain of syphilis. HSE figures have revealed that homosexual men are the main victims and spreaders of the putrid disease.
Dublin reportedly has 75% of nationally reported cases, over 10 times the amount of cases of the STD than the next affected county, Cork, which has 7% of cases.
Some say that gay men are disproportionately effected by the disease as due to the sex acts they engage in but health officials say that gay people are no more at risk than straight people.
