Electric Picnic provides rich pickings for the Feed our Homeless organization, as volunteers collect hundreds of tents and sleeping bags left behind at the festival site

People’s carelessness or plain disregard for the environment has proved fruitful in other ways, as volunteers from the Feed our Homeless charity were able to collect hundreds of tents and sleeping bags left behind at the Electric Picnic festival site. These will now be supplied to those people who may need temporary shelter or extra sleeping bags around the country.

According to the charity, the homeless situation in Ireland has gotten so bad that they are handing out up to five tents and over ten sleeping bags per night these days.

The official number of homeless across Ireland remains at over 10,000 people, including hundreds of children.

Meanwhile, the Dáil remains closed and politicians are still enjoying their generous summer holidays.
