Gardaí have begun an investigation after a young girl was attacked by a group of boys who are all believed to be under the age of 10.
According to RTÉ News, the young girl believed to be aged 5 – was assaulted by the three boys inside a shed at a derelict house at the end of June.
Although the young girl managed to get away without sustaining any major injuries, it is believed that she has been left severely traumatised following the attack.
Gardaí say the issue was brought to them by the girl’s parents after she required hospital treatment.
It is reported that the girl was repeatedly struck with a stick after she followed the boy’s to the premises.
Officers investigating the incident say the case has since been referred to the Tusla and the Child and Family Agency.
