Gardai confirm threatening text sent to Drogheda Drogheda school was thankfully a hoax




A member of the gardai has confirmed to The Liberal that they believe a text that was sent around social media in relation to a threat against secondary school in Drogheda was in fact a hoax.

The text read that at 11:02am a violent incident would occur in the school – something that quickly went viral and indeed was taken seriously by a number of people.

Thankfully, everyone in the school was perfectly safe and the incident is deemed to have been a hoax.

Earlier this morning:

A number of concerning posts have appeared on social media about St Oliver’s Secondary School in Drogheda, Co Louth.

Various parents are saying that they’ve received panicked texts from their children in the school with some claiming that Gardai are now present at the school’s entrance.

A number of other people are claiming that they heard Gardai speed up the Rathmullen Road on the way to the school.

Thankfully the incident has been deemed a hoax by gardai and that the school, its staff and students are all safe.
