Gardai storm Ryanair flight in Dublin after mid air ‘shirt ripping brawl’

Passengers travelling on a Ryanair service bound for Dublin Airport were left stunned today when a mid-air confrontation erupted between two male passengers.

Someone onboard flight FR2972 from Kaunas, Lithuania reported that the heated clash broke out midway through the trip, claiming that at one stage one man even “ripped the other’s shirt off during the struggle”, reports The Mirror.

Cabin attendants stepped in swiftly and succeeded in stopping the incident from getting worse. Despite this, the disruption was serious enough that they alerted Gardaí in advance, with the plane touching down in Dublin shortly before 12.30pm.

The eyewitness said: “We were held on the tarmac for approximately 20 minutes while gardai and Airport Police boarded the plane. The two men involved in the incident were removed”, reports The Mirror.

Ryanair later acknowledged what happened, with a spokesperson telling the Irish Mirror: “Crew on this flight from Kaunas to Dublin (11 Dec) called ahead for police assistance after a group of passengers became disruptive onboard. The aircraft was met by police and these passengers were removed,” reports The Mirror.

The carrier also reiterated its firm position on disruptive conduct, stating: “Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a respectful and stress-free environment, without unnecessary disruption”, reports The Mirror.

It is believed that no arrests were made following the episode.
