The Government has confirmed that tented accommodation will be provided for up to 100 asylum seekers at the Knockalisheen Direct Supply Center in Co Clare.
This follows the opening of a makeshift tent at Gormanston Army Camp in County Meath on Tuesday for Ukrainians fleeing war.
The housing shortage has resulted in overcrowding at the Citywest Transit Center. Earlier this week, RTÉ News reported that people were sleeping on the floor and in chairs. Last week, the old terminal at Dublin Airport was used as temporary accommodation for more than 300 people.
