One of the country’s leading homeless charities Focus Ireland have launched their annual Christmas appeal this week.
The charity who have heavily questioned the Government’s handling of the situation in recent months, say further help and donations from the public is needed this Christmas.
In a year were homelessness reached an all time high totaling over 8,300 people, Focus Ireland say the €18 funding on offer from the state is not enough as more and more families are losing their homes each day.
Although the charity helped get 300 families new homes this year they say their efforts to stem the tide are being made in vein as up to three families are being homeless each day.
Focus Ireland say their latest appeal which will see adverts aired on TV and radio as well as online will call for much needed donations from the public that will be used to help those who are in danger of losing their home and families who are already without a home.
