Horrifying: Brother and sister aged 8 and 4 found hanged in basement

Police in the US investigating the deaths of an 8-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl say the pair were found hanging by the rafters in the basement of their family home in Albany Township, Pennsylvania.

According to The Reading Eagle, the investigation comes after the pair brother and sister were found hanging  from a dog leash next to two tipped over chairs last month.

Although the pair named as Conner Snyder and Brinley L Snyder were revived at the scene, they tragically passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital three days later.

Police investigating the incident say they are yet to determine how the two young children ended up being hanged, but they have revealed that they were found three feet apart and they were hanging from the same dog leash which was wrapped around the main support beam in the basement.

Officers investigating the deaths say the pair were found by their mother who immediately contacted emergency services who rushed to the scene.

It is understood that both children were in complete cardiac arrest before being revived on their way to hospital.

The Reading Eagle reports that both children were living with their mother and their older teenage brother who have since been questioned by police.

The paper also states that it was revealed during police interviews that Conner was an avid gamer and would surf the Internet using his Xbox console which has since seized by police.

Officers have also reportedly seized a number of other items including mobile phones, two tablets and a laptop computer from the house.

They are also currently searching for a Husky pit bull mix dog who was owned by the family at the time of the children’s deaths, but has since been given away Ms Snyder following their deaths.

Police say they are currently trying to determine how the children ended up hanging from the rafters and every piece of evidence that can be obtained will be crucial when it comes to determining the children’s deaths.
