The truly wretched state of the HSE is once again brought to light, as it has emerged that over 47,000 children remain in lists waiting to see a specialist doctor in Ireland.
According to the Mirror, the list includes about 19,000 kids who have been waiting over 12 months, and 5,000 who need to see a specialist on heart conditions.
The HSE is also failing to recruit enough consultants, due to insufficient wages and other issues. It has been revealed that one in five permanent consultant positions remains unfilled.
