Police in the UK have launched an investigation after a pregnant woman was repeatedly punched by a couple during a sick attack.
According to Sky News, the woman was attacked by the pair whilst she walking to her home in Prospect Terrace, New Brancepeth, Durham, on Tuesday night.
It is understood the couple demanded cash from the woman who has since received hospital treatment following the attack which occurred at approximately 8:40pm.
Police investigating the incident say the couple pinned the pregnant woman to a wall and repeatedly struck her on the stomach and on the head in an attempt to force her to hand over money.
However they quickly fled the scene after they discovered that the woman had no money in her possession.
Officers investigating the incident say the woman was admitted to hospital shortly after the incident and has since been discharged.
