A man has been detained for questioning following an assault on Bakers Road in Gurranabraher on the north side of Cork city.
Gardaà and emergency services attended the scene shortly before 12:30am on Monday, reports Breaking News.
A man in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were described as serious but non-life-threatening.
A man in his 30s is being held for questioning in connection with the incident under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the Cork Division, reports Breaking News.
He can be held for up to 24 hours before being released or charged.
