Irish people are still risking illegally travelling abroad on holiday but face up to €500 fines if they’re caught

Irish people are still travelling abroad on foreign holidays even though they’re facing up to a €500 fine if they’re caught.

Garda checkpoints are said to be stationed near the airport in an effort to stop people travelling abroad who are travelling for non essential purposes.

However, it’s understood that people are still going abroad for holidays in spite of a €500 fine if they’re caught. Even if they are stopped and issued with a fine at a checkpoint, those fined can continue on their way to the airport and travel abroad on holiday. It just would mean that they could add an additional €500 to their holiday bill.
