Irish woman surprised but “not embarrassed” to see here face used on billboards to advertise the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections

Ireland’s CervicalCheck service runs a Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) checkup service for women called HPV screening.

CervicalCheck just launched a new outdoor advertising campaign to promote the STI / HPV screening and selected a part time model and school receptionist to be the face for the campaign.

According to the Metro, 28 year-old Rachel O’Connor says she is delighted and not embarrassed about the ad campaign saying “ladies gotta be getting their smears”.

In 2019, over 800 Irish women were given inaccurate smear test results or did not receive cervical screening outcomes which led to the Cervical Smear test scandal.

In a throwback to the 90’s, Friends star Joey Tribbian can empathise as he was used in an ad for what was then called Venereal Disease or VD for short.
