Between 400 and 500 people could need intensive care beds in December, and in the worst-case scenario, around 2,200 people with Covid could be hospitalized, the cabinet’s Covid committee has learned.

This message was included in the latest National Public Health Emergency Team template to the government on Monday night.

At best, it was predicted that between 200 and 220 people would need intensive care beds, and between 1,100 and 1,200 would need hospital treatment within the following month.

The revised model indicates that there is the possibility of a large wave of infections, still peaking in late November or early December, but higher than previous models due to declining immunity due to vaccination clearly not being a silver bullet.

While the peak could be reached at the end of December, the large number of cases would continue until February at least.

Social media users have been saying that “it’s a disaster” and that things aren’t much better than this time last year.
