As the week comes to an end, widespread rain, heavy at times, will sweep eastwards across the country today.
The day will begin cloudy and dry in the east, but it will become very wet from around noon onwards. Showers will likely turn wintry on high ground around eastern areas, while temperatures will hover around 8-11C, with strong southerly winds also putting an appearance.
Saturday is expected to be cloudy and rather windy, with outbreaks of rain spreading from the south and west. Highest temperatures will be around 6-9C during the day.
And it will be much the same on Sunday, a very wet and windy day, with strong to gale force winds on coastal areas. Persistent rain will be rather widespread towards the afternoon and evening, with temperatures expected to hover at around 4-6C.
A good weekend to spend in front of the fire then.
