The Irish captain, Paul O’Connell is to undergo major surgery this week on a torn hamstring. However, the 6ft 6″ giant will make his way back to the Irish camp to give them as much inspiration and advice from his experienced career as is possible.
The Irish Team Manager, Michael Kearney says that OāConnell hadĀ beenĀ heavily involved in the teamās preparations prior to departing for London on Thursday for his operation – despite the bitter disappointment of having his tournament, and test career cut short so suddenly, he’ll still come back and play his part in the rest of Ireland’s World Cup hopes.
Kearney said: āPaul came back into camp on Monday and spent the first couple of days in camp – he was in good form and was contributing to the meetings. He left for London this morning where he is having an operation later today and we are hopeful that Paul will rejoin us back here in Cardiff either tomorrow evening or on Saturday.ā
