The Luas operator, Transdev, has confirmed that drivers engaging in four-hour stoppages will have a full day’s pay deducted from their wages.
The move has been confirmed by Gerry Madden, Transdev’s managing director.
Mr. Madden also said that there is a willingness in Transdev’s part to resume talks with drivers, as long as there is a ‘credible’ basis for further negotiations.
In response to Transdev’s move, SIPTU’s Owen Reidy said that the company is “pouring fuel on the fire”.
Mr. Reidy said “It’s quite tragic at this stage, that instead of resolving this thing … Gerry seems to spend more time talking and plotting and planning in relation to counteracting action,”
“All of this is counterproductive. All it does is frustrate his employees even more.”
