Tourism dropped a massive 80% in Malta last year but they plan to rebuild their popular destination.
The Maltese government is launching a new scheme offering tourists up to €200 if they book two or more nights at a hotel.
A tourist staying at a 5* hotel will get the full €200. A 4* stay will get you €150 and €100 for a 3* hotel.
For anyone who has visited Malta, they will know that tourist accommodation is of good quality and good value for these subsidies are definitely an incentive to visit the sunny island of Malta.
Gozo island, just off the coast of the main island (and well worth a visit) is offering 10% off your hotel stay.
Meanwhile in Ireland, there is anecdotal evidence showing price hikes by Irish hotels with mid range hotels costing €200 a night or more.
