Man, 50s, is fighting for life in hospital after a serious assault in Dublin




A man is fighting for his life in hospital following an alleged serious assault in Dublin last week, reports The Mirror.

Gardaí in Coolock are investigating the incident, which is believed to have taken place in Belcamp Park near the Clonshaugh Park entrance close to Clonshaugh Lawn, reports The Mirror.

Emergency services were called shortly after 6pm on May 20 after a man was found unresponsive in Clonshaugh Park, Dublin 17, reports The Mirror.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition, reports The Mirror.

The scene was sealed off and preserved for a technical examination as part of the ongoing investigation, reports The Mirror.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward if they were in the area at the time of the incident or have any relevant information, reports The Mirror.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Coolock are investigating following report of an alleged serious assault of a male, in Coolock, Dublin 17 on the evening of Wednesday, 20 May,” reports The Mirror.

They added: “Anyone who was in the vicinity of the Clonshaugh Park entrance to Belcamp Park, or Clonshaugh Drive, Coolock, Dublin 17, during the hours of 5:30pm and 6:30pm on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 and who may have camera footage—including dash-cam footage—is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí. In particular, Gardaí are appealing to people who may have been exercising in Belcamp Park at the time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coolock Garda Station on (01) 666 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station,” reports The Mirror.
