
A man in his 50s who died following a farm accident in Co Waterford has been locally named as James Doherty, reports Breaking News.
Mr Doherty, who was from Ballyrobin in Ferrybank on the Kilkenny–Waterford border, died on Sunday after an incident involving farm machinery, reports Breaking News.
He is survived by his partner Lorna, his brothers John, Eamonn and Pat, and his sisters Bridget, Eileen, Mairead and Maria, along with extended family and friends, reports Breaking News.
His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out, reports Breaking News.
Gardaí said they responded to what they described as a “medical incident” at a farm premises in Ballyrobin on Sunday, reports Breaking News.
They confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene and that a file will be prepared for the coroner, reports Breaking News.
Both An Garda Síochána and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the circumstances of the incident as part of standard procedure, reports Breaking News.
The HSA has confirmed it has been notified and has launched its own investigation into the fatal workplace incident, reports Breaking News.
