The establishment elite across the political spectrum in the US and the anti-Trump mainstream media are incensed at the President’s decision to withdraw US troops from Syria in the near future.

During his campaign Donald Trump railed against the interventionist foreign policies of then President Barack H. Obama and his predecessor George W. Bush.

During his tenure President Trump has repeatedly shown restraint when presented with the option to use force, including most recently opting for diplomacy in dealing with Iran rather than striking the country as many in his party and some in his cabinet demanded after the Saudi oil field attack.

Ironically, formerly anti-interventionist voices, have also condemned the President’s actions, as because it was a decision made by Donald Trump, they have to disagree with it no matter what.

While some have warned that the withdrawal of US troops jeopardises the Kurds, who have been repeatedly attacked by Turkey which is led by Islamist President Erdogan, President Trump has publicly told the Turkish government that the US would “obliterate” their economy should they engage in undue hostility.

Candidate and then President Donald Trump has often railed against the US getting involved in “stupid, endless wars” and his actions with regard to North Korea and the Middle East have proven him to be one of the most consistently pro-peace US Presidents in modern history.

Though when comparing him to his two predecessors some would say that’s not a difficult accolated to achieve.
