Nicholas Sandmann, a student from Kentucky, has settled a $275 million lawsuit he filed against CNN last March over their coverage of his interaction with a Native American protester.

Sandmann filed the lawsuit after CNN and other media outlets showed portions of footage and claimed the boy was mocking the protester.

The video showed a Native American man approach a teenager attending the March for Life in January 2019 in Washington DC and banging a drum while shouting “spirit chants” in the young man’s face and this provoked outrage online.

Leftists and celebrities then attacked the teenage boy in the video because he was smiling and wearing a red ‘Make America Great Again’ hat. Some even called for him to be attacked, tortured and even killed while others demanded that his address be leaked online.

Media induced hysteria reached fever pitch before a longer video showed the students being provoked and proving that the indigenous man, Nathan Philipps, approached the students.

The students were being harassed and insulted by a group of men who believe themselves to be the “black Israelites” which is an African American supremacist ideology.

Philips said he walked into the group of students and began chanting to distract from the epithets being screeched by the racist black demonstrators at the teens who come from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky.

The young man at the centre of this controversy Nick Sandmann issued the following statement

“I believed that by remaining motionless and calm, I was helping to diffuse the situation. I realised everyone had cameras and that perhaps a group of adults was trying to provoke a group of teenagers into a larger conflict. I said a silent prayer that the situation would not get out of hand,”.
