‘Mr Broccoli’ plants himself on Good Morning Britain to spill the beans on vegan protest

A vegan protestor has appeared on Good Morning Britain dressed as a piece of broccoli.

According to the Daily Mail, “Mr Broccoli” is believed to be a member of Animal Rebellion, part of the Extinction Rebellion environmental movement. While on the show, he refused to explain why people should become vegan and give up meant. Instead he just said: “I’m just a humble broccoli. I just grow.”

At one point during the interview, he said he had to take a phone call before pulling a banana out of his pocket and answering it like a phone. His antics received little support from the hosts of the show, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid who accused him of not taking his campaign seriously. He was particularly criticised for being given a great opportunity to discuss the campaign on a television show, only to waste it by coming on dressed as broccoli.

Mr Broccoli’s actions are just the latest in a number of protests that have taken place over the last few weeks. They continue to get mixed responses from the public. Some applauded their efforts to highlight possible future damage to the environment if urgent action is not taken. Others however, have said they oppose the protestors’ actions, which have caused huge disruption to traffic and businesses, particularly at the moment as shops start to become more and more business in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr. Broccoli’s appearance might not have won much support for his cause, but it’s unlikely we’ve seen the last of him.
