A 25 year old man has somehow escaped any jail time after he admitted to repeatedly raping his girlfriend as she slept.
The man in question Magnus Meyer Hustveit a Norwegian national pleaded guilty to the changes brought before him and received a seven year suspended sentence earlier today. Mr Hustveit had comitted a number of sexual assaults on the young woman in a Dublin apartment between the dates October 2011 and April of 2012. Mr Hustveit confessed that he assaulted the victim when he sent her an email saying that he had been using her body for “sexual gratification” for almost a year.
The young woman who has not been identified, bravely told her harrowing story in court and claimed that she no longer has a good nights sleep because she no longer sees a bed as a place of sanctuary but more like a place of torture.
The Judge in charge of the case Patrick McCarthy had claimed that there was no precedent for the case, and he could not send Mr Hustveit to prison as the case would not have came to light without his confession.
