Prison Officers Association implements a “go slow” as they blame Irish government for ignoring their concerns about vaccinating their frontline members

The Prison Officers Association (POA) which represents 3,200 frontline officers has instructed all of it’s members to adhere to duties in the prisons, effectively creating a “Go Slow” work practice.

The POA are very concerned that their frontline members are being ignored by the government when it comes to the vaccination rollout. They said that “in the first three months of this year prison officers have been placed at increasing risk to Covid-19, but their concerns have been ignored by both the Ministers for Health and Justice” reports RTE.

The Prison Officers “Go Slow” is thought to to cause some disruption and delays in Ireland’s prisons and in the prison escort service which transports prisoners to and from the courts.
