Britain’s Duke of Sussex has reportedly claimed he was physically attacked by his brother during an argument over the young prince’s marriage to Meghan Markle.

In a leaked excerpt from his long-awaited autobiography Spare to The Guardian newspaper, Prince Harry says the confrontation took place at his London home in 2019 and left him with a visible wound to his back after the Prince of Wales grabbed the his brother’s collar and tore off his necklace before throwing him to the ground.

Harry further said William called the American actress “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” – comments his younger brother said he was parroting “the press narrative” about his wife.

According to The Guardian newspaper, the “extraordinary scene” is “one of many in Spare” due for release on 10 January.

The newspaper said it managed to obtain a copy of the memoir despite “stringent pre-launch security around the book”.

The article went on to say that according to Harry, his older brother wanted to discuss “the whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship and struggles with the press.

But when William arrived at Nottingham Cottage – where Harry was then living – in the grounds of Kensington Palace, the Prince of Wales was already “piping hot”.

Insults were then exchanged between the two men before William claimed he was trying to help, claims Harry found in disbelief and informed his brother about him, which angered William.

So much so that, Harry claims, the Prince of Wales cursed and stepped forward, startling him.

He writes: “(William) called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” reports RTE.

Harry writes that William urged him to fight back, but he refused. Soon after, however, the older brother apologized.

Harry said he didn’t tell his wife right away, but she noticed “scratches and bruises” on his back.
