Thousands of AstraZeneca vaccines have been cancelled for people in Ireland today

Thousands of people around Ireland who were due to receive an AstraZeneca vaccine today have been told to stay at home because their vaccine has been cancelled.

Fears of severe blood clots have led the NIAC to recommend that people only over the age of 60 take the vaccine, and as a result all those younger than 60 who were due to get the AstraZeneca vaccine have seen their appointments cancelled from today.

The HSE contacted hospitals and healthcare clinics and makeshift clinics on Monday and advised them of the new measures.

Many people now fear all vaccines as a result of these latest developments with people fearing what risks vaccines actually could potentially have as opposed to what risks the pandemic itself presents.
