A woman and her two children who were killed in a shooting at their residence in Co Fermanagh last week will be laid to rest together in her native town in Co Clare, reports RTE.

Mourners attending the funeral of Vanessa Whyte and her children in Barefield on Saturday have been encouraged to wear bright clothing.

Ms Whyte, aged 45, along with her 14-year-old son James Rutledge and 13-year-old daughter Sara Rutledge, lost their lives in the shooting that occurred at a home on Drummeer Road in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday morning, reports RTE.

Details of the funeral for Ms Whyte and her two children were shared in a post on social media.

The message from the funeral home read: “Vanessa was a devoted mother, a loving and beloved daughter and sister and a loving and beloved daughter-in-law and sister-in-law,” reports RTE.

It described James as a “much-loved son, brother, and grandson” and said Sara “was a dearly loved daughter, sister, and granddaughter”.

A removal service will take place tomorrow morning at St Mary’s Church in Maguiresbridge, reports RTE.

Ms Whyte and her children will rest in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Barefield on Friday.

Their funeral mass is scheduled to take place in Barefield on Saturday, followed by a burial at Templemaley Cemetery, reports RTE.

Attendees are being encouraged to donate to Women’s Aid in their memory.

On Sunday, a prayer gathering was held for Ms Whyte, James, and Sara in Barefield, following a community vigil in Maguiresbridge the previous Friday, reports RTE.

The death of Ian Rutledge, 43, who is believed to have carried out the shooting, was confirmed last night.

The agricultural contractor is thought to be the sole suspect in the killings of his family.

Police previously stated they were pursuing a line of inquiry suggesting the case involved a triple homicide and attempted suicide, reports RTE.
