Touching: Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney offers his condolences over the Buncrana Tragedy

Love or hate him, depending on your standpoint, Wayne Rooney has proven he’s one of the good ones.

The Manchester United and English Captain is a proud Englishman of strong Irish descent. Rooney is a Catholic and is said to hold strong ties to the Emerald Isle.

After the horrific tragedy that befell Buncrana on Sunday night, Rooney has offered his condolences to the remaining family of the victims.

Mark (12) and Evan McGrotty (8) were among the five people who lost their lives after the Audi Q7 they were travelling in plunged into the water at Buncrana Pier.

Only for the reactions of Francis Crawford, Davitt Walsh and Stephanie Knox, the little four-month old baby would have drown as well.
