Tragically, a youngster who had been retrieved from a canal has perished, reports The Mirror.

The two-year-old youngster was pulled from the sea by brave policemen who were doing their hardest to save him. They attempted to save his life by doing CPR.

According to rumours, the child may have gone outside to “feed the ducks” when the tragedy struck Wolverhampton, England. “Loud screams” were also heard by neighbours during the accident.

Soon after, ambulance staff arrived and started life support, but regrettably the child was not able to be rescued. The terrible death of the youngster is not being investigated, according to the police, reports The Mirror.

Police were called to the scene in Hendon Avenue, Wolverhampton, at around 530 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, after receiving a 999 call. According to BirminghamLive, authorities discovered the youngster next to a canal towpath in the vicinity.

According to a local—who asked to remain anonymous—the boy’s family was in the midst of moving, reports The Mirror.

He said: “I’ve got two young ones myself and this canal is 100 metres from my house. It’s very popular with dog walkers and people feeding the ducks. We’ve been down there plenty of times when we’ve had a bit of bread a few days out of date we think let’s just feed the ducks. And they do, the kids love feeding the ducks,” reports The Mirror.
