Truly Heart-Warming: Tallaght based heating expert offers to install home heating system free of charge for an 83 old woman after reading her story on social media

In a truly heart-warming story a Dublin man has been praised for his efforts and has been dubbed a hero after he offered to install a home central heating system free of charge for an elderly woman in desperate need.

The gracious and generous Mick Keddy, of Michael Keddy heating and plumbing in Tallaght, got in contact with The Independent.ie with an amazing offer to provide a central heating system for the elderly woman after reading an article on social media which described the woman’s struggles as she currently relies on a coal fire to heat her home.

The Tallaght based home heating expert Mick felt he needed to do something as he believed that an elderly woman aged 83 should not be hauling and shovelling coal on the fire in this day and age. A true good samaritan Mick, told the paper that he messaged the organiser “straight away saying I would do the installation free of charge”. Mick further explained: “I’d like to tell her… leave it with me for a week or two, see what I can come up with… go to the suppliers and try to get the materials, they to get them sponsored. The more you ask, the better”.

“It takes me a week to do a job for her, it’s only a few days out of my life but it will make her life handy for the rest of her days”. “What goes around comes around”. Before adding: “Life’s been good to me… if I can help someone, it’s no bother to me at all”.

Micks amazing story came about after Ashbourne native Keith Skelly created a fundraising page on Generosity.com to collect donations in order to help the elderly woman named Patricia pay for a brand new home central heating system. To date a total of 136 people have donated over €3,500 towards the €7,500 target, whilst over a 1,000 people have shared the story on Facebook.

Meanwhile a generous and hard working Skelly took to the donations page recently to write that the campaign had received “amazing feedback” along with offers of work and discounted materials. Skelly added: “A huge thank you to all who have donated & to the many emails I have received with advice and offers of work for free from trades men”.
