Up to 32,000 Ukrainians are now said to arrived in Ireland – all entitled to social welfare and medical cards

As many people struggle to get their own medical card and other social welfare assistance, up to 200,000 Ukrainians are going to come into Ireland over the coming weeks and be handed both immediately.

It’s understood that some 32,000 Ukrainian refugees have already arrived in Ireland since the conflict in their homeland started on February 24th.

The government said that Ireland will accept up to 200,000 people from the Ukrainian – which would see the population of Ireland increase of around 4%.

Alongside that, everyone who comes into Ireland from the Ukraine will be fully entitled to social welfare, including going straight onto the dole and everyone will be entitled to free health care, including a medical card.

Many people feel that the circa 10,000 Irish homeless should be helped before anyone else coming into the country.
