Very ‘Shaken’ Holly Willoughby makes This Morning return

Presenter Holly Willoughby said she felt “shaken, troubled, let down”, and “worried” as she returned to This Morning on Monday following the Phillip Schofield scandal.

Willoughby had a two-week half-year break after his former co-host Schofield surprisingly left and he later admitted to having an affair with a young ITV employee.

Opening the show on Monday, she began, “Right, deep breath. Firstly, are you ok? I hope so. [It] Feels very strange indeed sitting here without Phil,” reports RTE.

“And I imagine that you have been feeling a lot like I have – shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides of what’s been going on, and full of questions. You, me, and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt they had to resign from ITV and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process. And it’s equally hard to see the toll it’s taken on their own mental health,” reports RTE.

Willoughby and co-host Josie Gibson then hugged each other.

“All we can do now is be the family that we are,” said Gibson.

“Exactly,” Willoughby replied, reports RTE.
