Woman who claimed she tripped and fell in open green area settles her court case for €60,000

A 40-yr-old woman who said she tripped and fell while crossing an open green space, twisting and hurting her ankle, has reached a €60,000 settlement with the High Court, reports Breaking News.

Due to the claimed fall at Fairgreen Hill, Letterkenny, County Donegal, three years prior, Denise Kerr filed a lawsuit against Donegal County Council, suffering a triple fracture to her left ankle.

The court was informed by Ms. Kerr’s attorney, Miriam Reilly SC, on behalf of Jolene McElhinney, a solicitor, that Ms. Kerr, who has an intellectual handicap, tripped and fell and broke her ankle severely.

After being taken to the hospital by ambulance, X-rays revealed that she had fractures in three different areas of her ankle joint, reports Breaking News.

She needed surgery, and her ankle received plates.

Ms. Reilly stated that Ms. Kerr spent two weeks in the hospital but had to return because of an infection, necessitating the removal of the plates. She added that Ms. Kerr’s ankle area was left with many scars, reports Breaking News.
