Wretched state of the HSE revealed, as almost 4,400 elderly patients were forced to wait for over 24h in A&E departments across the country during the months of January to February of this year

The shocking state of the Irish health system is once again revealed in stark figures, as it has emerged that almost 4,400 elderly patients were forced to wait longer than 24h in A&E departments across the country during the months of January to February of this year.

This effectively means that the HSE has consistently and resoundingly failed to meet its own set standards for admission of elderly people ‘within 24 hours’.

The figures have been branded ‘disgraceful’.
